Teach Your Children Well — Preparing for the Intelligence Revolution
Facing an AI-interdependent future
Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. — Arthur C. Clarke
Fasten your cyberseatbelts — we’re enjoying that first stomach-churning roller-coaster dive now. The Industrial Revolution changed the world — the Intelligence Revolution is shaping up to be next level. It could be terrible, or it could be wonderous — most likely, somewhere in the middle. How can one stay relevant? Knowing what prompts to use for what engines is a start…
AI has been around for a while. What’s new is how it’s blossomed and rapidly invaded non-technical spaces. We studied machine learning and computer science in the 1980s and 90s. There’s no question that recent developments, such as LLMs, represent a paradigm-shift. Again, not necessarily because the tech is fundamentally new, but because of the scale of data now available to train LLMs, and the commerical motivation to develop these products and systems into viable models with “skins” nearly anyone can use, appearing relational. But the appearance of consciousness ≠ actual consciousness. Or is there more?
We are witnessing the democratization of AI as advanced tech become more and more user-friendly, as the ergonomics and design allow for…
