Fasten your cyberseatbelts — we’re enjoying that first stomach-churning roller-coaster dive now. The Industrial Revolution changed the world — the Intelligence Revolution is shaping up to be next level. It could be terrible, or it could be wonderous — most likely, somewhere in the middle. There’s no question that recent developments, such as LLMs, represent a paradigm-shift. Again, not necessarily because the tech is fundamentally new, but because of the scale of data now available to train LLMs, and the commerical motivation to develop these products and systems into viable models with “skins” nearly anyone can use, appearing relational. But the appearance of consciousness ≠ actual consciousness. Or is there more?
